A newly-released coffee table style book, Carmel ‘round about right, chronicles this city’s incredible tale of growth and development with vivid text and vibrant photography. Published by Memphis-based Publishing Resources Group, Inc. under their Urban Renaissance Books imprint, the book will be available in select area retail outlets by February 1, and is available now at www.carmelbook.com.

The author of the text, Mayor James Brainard, writes of Carmel’s Quaker beginnings and maps its phenomenal community planning and growth, marking it as one of the most studied and admired suburban communities in the nation. He enthusiastically relays how the installation of roundabouts keeps commuter issues, which stall many urban areas, at a minimum and traffic flow at a maximum. Mayor Brainard is donating all of his proceeds from the work to the Palladium.

Zakk Knight is a talented young local blues guitarist. Please tell us about yourself.

I just graduated in December from Lawrence Central High School.  I’m 17 years old and I’ve been playing blues and rock guitar since I was 13.  I never took lessons; I just picked it up watching others.  My interest in music came from my dad, former Colts player Steve Knight, who is now a professional session bass player and singer.  I also spent a lot of time listening to the classics by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Elvis, Prince, Robert Johnson, and Hubert Sumlin.  My mom, Debra Knight, is my biggest fan and number one supporter.
